About Us

RANIERI & KERNS ASSOCIATES is quickly becoming one of the area's premier residential construction companies specializing in new home building and high end renovation projects. We have established an impeccable reputation based on obtaining a high level of customer service, attention to detail, and precise project management. Ranieri & Kerns Associates (RKA) was established in 1996 by two principals: Thorne Gregory Ranieri and Andrew Michael Kerns Sr. RKA is always striving to be the best whether it be value engineering, product selection, schedule flexibility or environmental awareness. Our team approach style of construction is often evident during the progression of any given project as well as during final completion. This unique approach encompasses the client, architect, employees, subcontractors and material suppliers.

RKA's portfolio includes simple kitchen renovations to 16,000 square foot custom homes. Each project is assigned a full time working superintendent from project start to final completion. The assigned superintendent takes on many different roles, depending on the size and scope of the project. Additionally, each project is assigned a project manager to create schedules, track project budgets, monitor progress, assist in product selections, and make decisions that eventually mold the final outcome of the project. It is, also, during the project's progression that distinguishes RKA from other construction firms: our complete commitment to total client satisfaction. From the very first meeting with our clients through the progression of the project, we work with that client to understand and listen to their goals and needs, having them participate in all aspects of the project until their dreams and objectives are realized. No matter how large or small the project may be RKA wants only a completely satisfied client.

RKA's employees & subcontractors are the most talented & experienced our industry has to offer. All employees are selected for their past experiences and individual strengths. Employees are assigned to projects where their strengths will be needed most. RKA only uses the best and most highly skilled subcontractors and craftsman that can meet our demands for quality, schedule, and staying within budget. Not only will the RKA team approach your project with necessary skills and vision, but also with professionalism and respect for your family and home.

Thorne G. Ranieri, began his journey into building construction and his love of architecture at an early age. He spent time watching and learning from his grandfather James Lee Thorne, who was an architect. While in college at The Temple University School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Thorne worked in various building trades as well as an architectural firm on the Main Line. It was at Temple University where Thorne would meet his future business partner, Andrew M. Kerns. After receiving his bachelor's degree from Temple, Thorne began to work for architect, Fred R. Zeitter in Bryn Mawr, PA., who had worked for Thorne's grandfather before venturing out on his own. After working for many years with Mr. Zeitter, Thorne went to work for Glackin Thomas Panzak (formally known as Glackin Associates), one of the areas premier land planning and landscape architectural firms. It was here that Thorne gained his land development experience and began to work on many land planning and landscape architecture projects large and small, designing residential subdivisions, commercial and institutional projects. Also, while working at Glackin Thomas Panzak, Thorne had been keeping in touch with Andrew Kerns. It was at this time that Thorne and Andrew decided to join forces and create Ranieri & Kerns Associates.

Andrew M. Kerns started his experience working for architects and engineers during his high school years as well as working for many different building trades during his summers off. Some of the firms Andrew has worked for include: E.L.D. Architects, Doylestown, PA; Boucher & James Civil Engineers, Buckingham, PA. It was at Temple University's school of Architecture & Landscape Architecture that he would meet his future business partner, Thorne G. Ranieri. Before and during his years at Temple, Andrew would start his own residential construction company, focusing on smaller scale, highly detailed, residential projects. After further honing his skills as a general contractor, he went to work as a project manager for Sharkey & Sharkey Inc. in the Central New Jersey area. Andrew learned the importance of customer service in the fast paced, ever evolving world of the construction industry. During his years working with Sharkey & Sharkey, Andrew and Thorne would collaborate on various design and construction projects both large and small and would soon realize it was time to join together to create Ranieri & Kerns Associates, LLC.
